Fort Worth HOME awards MTK Design Group Best Children's Room!


MTK Design Group Fort Worth Home Winter 2018 magazine feature for Award Finalist of Best Bedroom and Award Winner of Best Children's Room

On December 6th, MTK Design Group celebrated a night we will always remember as the Fort Worth HOME magazine held their 2018 Fort Worth HOME Design Awards at the Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams showroom in the Shops of Clearfork. The 8,500 square foot showroom hosted top designers and architects from around the city to enjoy a year of exceptional design. In this year’s competition, they received over 130 submissions. Megan Kranz, owner and lead designer of MTK Design group was a finalist in the Best Bedroom and Best Children's category, which was featured in the Winter issue of Fort Worth HOME. MTK Design group took home an award for Best Children's Room! "I am beyond thrilled to celebrate among the best in the industry. Thank you to our families and team for coming and supporting us. You made the night truly one worth remembering. All praise goes to God for this and what a good, creative, gracious God He is for giving opportunities to celebrate His gifts. We will forever cherish this honor!" says Megan about celebrating the night.

Food was provided by Fixe Southern House and the evening was sponsored by California Closets Greater Fort Worth Builders Association. Award Finalist: Out of the Darkness Design by Megan Kranz, Associate ASID, MTK Design Group

MTK Design Group Award Finalist for Best Bedroom called "Out of the Darkness." the over sized windows into a focal point with a set of luxe, neutral-tone drapes — touting subtle trim that matched the accent wall, which was painted Sherwin-Williams Moody Blue. A pretty metallic wallpaper from Fabricut, installed by Pete Torrez, capitalizes on the natural light and gives a fresh vibe. Megan chose a set of rustic-chic end tables, as well as lamps and an ottoman, from Uttermost Company, and bedding by Eastern Accents. And the built-in headboard, once partially hidden by a large poster bed frame, was brought front and center. “We attached a new footboard to it that helped balance out the rustic touches we wanted to include, with the home being in Fort Worth on an expanse of rural land,” Megan says, who added more special details by mixing guitars into the decor. “The husband had several guitars he played but wanted these particular ones displayed for easy access. It was a great way to incorporate their personality.”

Award Winner: Storage-Minded Plaid Playroom Design by Megan Kranz, Associate ASID, MTK Design Group

MTK Design Group Award Winner of Best Children's Room called "Storage-Minded Plaid Playroom." This handsome playroom, created by MTK Design Group owner and lead designer Megan Kanz for a new build in Fairview, involved plenty of video chats during its making. Megan worked remotely with her clients, a family of five moving from Washington. (She even orchestrated a grand reveal of their newly finished home just one day after they closed on it and arrived in the Lone Star State!) With three boys under the age of 6, there was one major goal for this space: storage. “Not only do the console, trunk table and oversized benches provide storage, the sectional also lifts up with hidden storage inside,” Megan says. An entertainment center from Liberty Furniture fit the bill perfectly with plenty of shelves and spaces, and a simple play table with Surya Rugs poufs became the perfect spot for the boys to perch and play. For an added touch of bold, Megan opted to create a design statement with plaid-patterned Fabricut wallpaper, installed by Pete Torrez. “Bringing out the architecture with the wallpaper accent not only brought attention to the ceiling lines and oversized window, but also brought attention away from all the toys,” she explains. “Our overall goal was to provide a functional space for the kids to play with hideaway storage for the toys, but also give a sophisticated vibe that the parents could enjoy as well!”
